Arua PMTCT Peer Support Group

The Arua Prevention Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) medical program for HIV positive pregnant women was started as a collaborative effort between the Ugandan Ministry of Health and an international medical NGO in 2000. The Arua PMTCT Peer Support Group for HIV positive mothers was formed in 2003 as an auxiliary organization. It is supported by the Arua Regional Referral Hospital, Ugandan Ministry of Health.

The mission of this group is to support HIV/AIDS mothers and their families burdened by AIDS disease. The group conducts outreach AIDS prevention education programs in Arua and the villages surrounding Arua.
